Mara Babin is a business lawyer with more than 30 years experience in private equity, M&A, joint ventures and other strategic transactions. She became a partner with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, a global law firm, in 1984. She had a variety of practice leadership and management roles with the firm. She played a leading role in establishing the firm’s domestic and international private equity practice, and headed the firm’s European and Middle East private equity practice from 2000 through 2008.

Mara is recognized in UK Legal Experts for her private equity and M&A expertise and in Chambers Europe Leading Lawyers for Business. She served as the corporate secretary for a U.S. public company from 1981 until 2000.

From 2000-2008 she was resident in that firm’s London office, serving as the managing partner of the office from 2001 through 2006 and a member of the European “kitchen cabinet”.

Her practice is focused on the representation of private equity sponsors and other investors, fund and SPV formation, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, both internationally and in the United States
